The 2010 Easter Tour of the GUSTAV MAHLER JUGENDORCHESTER has taken place for the first time in cooperation with the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian in Lisbon.
There the GUSTAV MAHLER JUGENDORCHESTER gave three concerts, including one conducted by its assistant conductor David Afkham, where the Adagio from Gustav Mahler´s Tenth Symphony as well as the Thirteenth Symphony of Dmitri Shostakovich were presented.
Following this Antonio Pappano took over as conductor of the GUSTAV MAHLER JUGEND-ORCHESTER. The orchestra took the programme, which included works by Richard Strauss (Death and Transfiguration op. 24 and A Hero´s Life op. 40) and Dmitri Shostakovich (Concerto no. 1 for Cello and Orchestra op. 107) on a concert tour to Paris, Amsterdam, Vienna, Zurich, Naples and Madrid.
