After studying with Annie Cochet and Philippe Muller in France, Dorran Alibaud (born 1989) joined in 2009 Jean-Guihen Queyras's class in Stuttgart and followed him in 2011 to Freiburg im Breisgau.

Mr Alibaud has participated in worldwide masterclasses given by Frans Helmerson, Truls Mørk, Anner Bylsma, Miklós Perényi, Clemens Hagen, Gary Hoffman, Jérôme Pernoo and received regular advice from former soloists of the Berliner Philharmoniker such as Wolfgang Boettcher, Wolfram Christ, and Rainer Kussmaul.

Passionate about the orchestral repertoire, Mr Alibaud gained experience with the GUSTAV MAHLER JUGENDORCHESTER, the Lucerne Festival Orchestra Academy and the Verbier Festival Orchestra. He is now regular guest with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, SWR Symphonieorchester, Rotterdam Philharmonic, Kammerorchester Basel, Staatskapelle Dresden, Munich Radio Orchestra, Trondheim Symfoniorkester and Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse.

He worked with famous conductors like Claudio Abbado, Pierre Boulez, Bernard Haitink, Valery Gergiev, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Herbert Blomstedt, Daniele Gatti, Daniel Harding, Sir Colin Davis, Antonio Pappano, Riccardo Muti among many others in concerts and festivals around the world.

Mr Alibaud was also invited to festivals such as the Piatigorsky Festival Los Angeles, Zermatt Music Festival, Gustav Mahler Academy, Internationale Académie Villecroze, and performed with partners like Augustin Dumay, Guy Braunstein, Renaud Capuçon, Wolfram Christ, Kirill Gerstein, and the Stradivari Quartet.

Laureate of the Landessammlung Baden-Württemberg since 2011, Mr Alibaud is a member of the Orchestra Mozart and is since 2014 solo cellist of the GUSTAV MAHLER JUGENDORCHESTER, both orchestras founded by Claudio Abbado.

Mr Alibaud plays an anonymous violoncello made around 1700 in Venice.

Dorran Alibaud has been a member of the GUSTAV MAHLER JUGENDORCHESTER since Easter 2010 and leader of the cello section since 2014.
